Community

The estate has helped to establish four distinct community based co-operatives. These are independently owned and operated by local family groupings under the guidance and mentorship of the Mycelium management team. Three of these co-operatives act as service-providers for Mycelium as well as other local contractors in the fields of agricultural services, landscaping, and trail-building and ecological services. A fourth co-operative has recently been formed to farm portions of arable land within the estate for their own account. The FHAE has assisted in setting them up with an extensive vegetable garden, as well as a pastured egg production unit. These products are available to the home owners through a mobile vegetable stall situated close to the estate entrance during weekdays and at the Franschhoek Village Market on Saturdays. The olives, olive oil, and seasonal fruit and honey produced on the estate is available for purchase at the vegetable stall.
